Timestamp is an important tool that verifies the existence of a particular data on a particular date. It is defined by the Electronic Signature Law (No. 5070) as follows: It refers to the date and time information on which digital data is created, modified, transmitted and received or recorded, as a record approved by the Service Provider.

This service is offered by Electronic Certificate Service Providers (ECSP). Timestamp can be used on electronic data such as electronic applications, minutes, contracts and more. It is of great importance to determine the date and time of creation of this data.

It is useful in many areas such as Time Stamp, e-Ledger, e-Archive Invoice, e-Document Management Systems, e-Government projects, KEP (Registered Electronic Mail), ASBİS, KVKK Permit Processes and many more. It is used especially in e-Government and e-Commerce applications to document the timing of signing contracts or money transfers. It is also used to prove the date and time of digital data with intellectual and property rights.

Additionally, regarding broadcasts on the Internet, hosting providers are obliged to store traffic information for six months and use Timestamping in order to maintain the accuracy and integrity of this information.

Timestamp is especially useful when there are problems with e-Ledger applications. When legal periods expire, a Time Stamp must be added to the warrants attempted to be uploaded. Thus, it becomes possible to prove when the charter was created.

Finally, using Timestamp works on a unit (unit) basis. The Timestamp added to each warrant is considered a credit. Although it is not mandatory to add a Timestamp to notebooks, a Timestamp can be used for the notebook itself if desired. Therefore, the Timestamp added to each ledger part is calculated as one credit.
